Hematochezia: Hematochezia, or the passing of fresh red blood in the stool, can be caused by a condition as benign as hemorrhoids or diverticulosis, or a by a more serious condition such as an inflammatory bowel disease which is often diagnosed in young adults. You should see your provider to determine the cause of your bleeding.
