My upper back has been aching for the past couple of days. today i've been experiencing lightheadedness. are these likely related? what could it be?

Lightheadedness can be caused by many things: low blood pressure, low sugar level, pregnancy, infection, too much lactic acid from muscle overuse and many more. It may or may not be related to your aching upper back. If it continues more than 5 days, see a Dr for a full exam including vitals and labs.
