pancreatitis: Pancreatitis is a serious illness and can be confirmed using blood tests for pancreatic markers. Gas pains would come and go, pain from pancreatitis would be more persistent. See your doctor.

Pancreatitis: Usually is more painful than gas and is accompanied by nausea and often vomiting and fever. It usually requires hospitalization. Gas pain is relieved by passing gas by belching or rectally and sometimes by pooping. Pancreatitis is worse with eating. And nothing relieves it.
