A member asked:

Past md said not lupus flare because normal labs at time of flare.new md put me on methotrexate.flare stopped.wouldn't it not work if not autoimmune?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lupus Flare: Lupus flares are diagnosed based on symptoms. Labs sometimes help... But often they do not. Finding new markers of a lupus flare is an area of active research now. Therefore your doctor put you on Methotrexate because they thought your symptoms were from a flare (autoimmune), despite the normal labs.
