no: The discharge can vary from cycle to cycle. The closer to the time of ovulation that one has sex, the greater the chance of conception.

Estrogen peak: As the dominant follicle cyst approaches full maturity it produces the greatest amount of estrogen of the cycle. Cervical mucous is produced in response to this estrogen peak. Upon ovulation, estrogen level drops precipitously and mucous secretion abates. This cervical mucous entices sperm to swim in the direction of the source, hence peak fertility.
