Paronychia: Paronychia is usually defined as inflammation, redness, and some pain of the skin that surrounds the nail plate. It may or not be accompanied by infection due to an ingrown toenail. Most paronychias are caused by a thickened, discolored, and deformed toenail, and of course, they can also be non-painful.
