Yes: Most women prefer not to do this during menses due to hygienic concerns, but most docs take this in stride - stuff happens!. If they use a pap test like thin prep then they can remove red cells during processing and still get a good pap reading while on menses.

Can be done but: It can be done during your periods but some gynecologist will like to wait till your periods are ended, as it can lead to false positive pap smears or inconclusive pap test.
