Not fixable at home: Need one's doctor. Hormonal birth control pills can be useful in other conditions besides birth control, such as helping women with acne, frequent periods, heavy periods, painful periods, etc... If a woman wants medication for menstrual pains, a primary care doctor or Ob-Gyn doctor can help after an evaluation to be sure nothing else unusual is happening in her body. Bad pain should be evaluated.
