How long after???: Some of the anesthetic medications can give hallucinations, especially some used in IV sedation and general anesthesia. Ask your doctor what medications were used or ask the anesthesiologist who performed your sedation.

they can be : Generally it is a symptoms of delirium. However, a fair number of people with delirium will eventually go on to develop dementia and the group most likely to develop delirium post-operatively are those with dementia at any phase of the illness.
