hormones: Whether you are a male or female, acne usually begins in puberty secondary to hormonal changes in the body. (newborns can get acne from maternal hormones that pass through the placenta). The hormones cause an increase in oil production which traps bacteria and gives rise to acne. Foods also high in glycemic content (sugar) can increase acne. Avoid such foods in your diet.
