No steel: Crowns are made from precious metals and/or porcelain, so steel is out of the question. An all metal crown is not the most esthetic, but you will never have porcelain breaking off of it. A well fitting pfm or full porcelain crown should also last a long time. The choice is yours, and your bite and size of tooth also play a role. Discuss with your dentist.

Types of crowns: I would hope that you are going to a dentist that you trust. If not, you should find one. A dentist whom you trust and can actually examine you would be the best one to go over your treatment choices with you and together decide on what's best for you own specific situation. Do you trust us, sight unseen as dentists to give you better advice?
