Ovulation: Once an egg is released (you have ovulated), the egg can be fertilized most often within the first 36 hours. Sperm can live for up to 24 hours in the vagina. Therefore, you need to time sex no more than 12-24 hours prior to ovulation, and periodically following ovulation to have the best chances of conceiving. Most fertility experts do not recommend more than daily intercourse at ovulation.
