Could what i thought was upper right abdominal tenderness really be by lungs or ribs? what causes tenderness in that area?

Organs: Yes. Sometimes lung or rib pain is referred to the stomach, but your gall bladder is there and so is your liver. If this is really bothering you get examined by a medical practitioner.

possibly: Causes of pain in the RUQ of abd 1) gallbladder, esp. If tender 2) stomach or duodenal ulcer 3) ribs, esp. If tenderness is truly on the ribs instead of abd. 4) lungs probably would not be associated with tenderness, but more likely respiration.
