Radiculopathy: Shooting pain like you're describing often comes from injury to peripheral nerves or nerve roots. So, i realize you have transverse myelitis, which could cause pain, but the history you provide actually fits best with a lumbar nerve root being pinched as it exits the spinal canal. Consider getting MRI or x-ray of your lumbosacral spine, and of course have your neurologist examine you. Good luck!
