Peroneal tendons : Could be that your peroneal tendons are subluxing ( sliding out) of the groove they normally reside in. If it's painful you should see either your orthopedist or podiatrist. Immobilization in a tall cam walker boot might help.

Many possibilities: Your condition could be as a result of many different things. A thorough history and physical exam and possibly radiology exams such as an x-ray or an MRI are needed to determine the exact cause. Causes of pain may include: tendon instability, trauma (fracture, sprain, arthritis), musculoskeletal or a biomechanical abnormality.
