Unprotected contact: Generally hpv is contracted through unprotected sexual contact. Unfortunately it is common to contract hpv and not realize it. Not everyone has outward signs of hpv all the time, so you can have it and not know it. This is why it is important for women to have regular pap smears, and why the new hpv vaccines are recommended for young women and men. Talk to your doctor to learn more.
