HPV is a Virus: Nothing causes hpv. Hpv is human papilloma virus. The virus is usually benign in humans. 96% of humans are exposed to at least one strain by the time they are 26. There is now vaccine to prevent cancer covering four of the strains that cause cervical or rectal or throat cancer in humans.
