Depends. : Depends upon the fracture. Best is to see your orthopedist and let him/her determine the best method of treatment, after am x-ray is taken.

Variable: Be examined. Get chest x-ray front or back rib. More than one rib? Pain? Complications can include pneumothorax, blood in chest, pneumonia. Wraps usually are not very much help.

Rib fractures : Simple rib fractures are treated conservatively with pain management only. Certain rib fractures that result in breathing difficulties and / or relentless pain are treated surgically. I use titanium plates to repair the chest wall.
