Different strain: Hiv-1 and hiv-2 both produce aids , both are lethal if untreated, infection spread same way. Hiv- 2 is less common mostly confined to west africa , genetic test will differentiate one from other.

Very slim: A handful of persons have been documented as converting from negative to positive 12 months after an occupational (non-sexual) exposure to hiv. Most individuals who become infected will have a positive test by three months after the exposure, many even sooner.

HIV Strain: Hiv-1 is a strain of hiv. There are 2 strains hiv-1 and hiv-2. Hiv-1 strain is classifiable into 3 main categories m, o and n. The groups are further dividable into what we refer to as "subtypes" or clades.
