Yes. Upper endo +: Colonoscopy are commonly performed at the same time. First the upper, then the colon. People are generally not put out, but typically we use what is called "conscious sedation". A combination of pain medications and IV benzodiazepine (usually versed) to make you able to cooperate with the exam but forget it later. It's like most people say, the worst part is usually the prep for a colonoscopy.
