Is it ok to put rubbing alcohol on shingles open sores?

Shingles: As soon as you are diagnosed with shingles, your doctor probably will start treatment with antiviral medicines. If you begin medicines within the first 3 days of seeing the shingles rash, you have a lower chance of having later problems, such as postherpetic neuralgia. You can use alcohol but it will not treat the shingles

If you want pain: Open wounds will just feel a burning sensation from that treatment. It's better to just clean with gentle soap and water. The infection is from a virus already inside the body. No treatment on the skin surface will affect this.
