Yes: Ask yourself: have you ever felt you needed to cut down on your drinking? Have people annoyed you by criticizing your drinking? Have you ever felt guilty about drinking? Have you ever felt you needed a drink first thing in the morning (eye-opener) to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover? If you answer yes, you may be an alcoholic.

Yes: Alcohol problems are not defined by how much or how often you drink as much as it is by what drinking does to you. If you drink more than intended, if you are having blackouts, or if heavy drinking is getting you into trouble, then it may signal alcohol abuse. The new definition by the main psychiatry society in us defines a problem by having 3 out of 11 criteria- more you have, the worse it is.
