No: Drinking one to drinks per day does not make you an alcoholic. That is unless they are very large drinks. One drink is considered to be either one 4 ounce glass of wine, one-12 ounce beer of one-single ounce/shot of whiskey or hard liquor. More than two of such drinks per day are more problematic. One to two drinks per day has actually been proven to be beneficial.

The real questions : To ask: does it negatively impact my relationships with others? Have i been in trouble due to alcohol use? Do i spend a significant amount of time drinking or suffering from the after effects of alcohol use? Have i tried unsuccessfully to cut down or quit in the past? Do i drink more than intended? Does it take more alcohol to get the effects i previously had? Is alcohol a priority in my life?
