A member asked:

When i get sick my eyes get blood shot why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infection response: With upper respiratory infection, the conjunctival blood vessel dilate to bring in more blood and thus defend the eye. So even if you have no infection in your eyes they may turn red when you get a cold. With other infections like urinary tract the eyes should not get red.
