Can enter either: Hiv can enter any mucosal surface, such as the inside of the mouth, vagina, urethra, anus, and even the eyes. Hiv-infected blood on intact skin does serve as a barrier of protection to prevent the entry of hiv. However, in the mucosal surfaces, it is much easier for HIV to cause infection, especially if there are microscopic cuts/lacerations or ulcers in these areas.
