Either one or both: Cramps in the Lower abdomen or pelvic area is likely due to periods and may respond to Ibuprofen or Naproxen. However, cramps in the upper abdomen maybe be Gastritis or acid reflux which requires a different type treatment. Speak with your doctor since a detailed history and examination will help make the right diagnosis and treatment recommendation. I assume you have regular bowel movements.
