If you are suffering from depression, will they let you out of the military?

Think about this: Would you want someone with depression fighting next to you and they suddenly become suicidal or homicidal and take themselves out and possibly you and other comrades? Hardly a recipe for winning a war. They are also more prone to ptsd and pay already have ptsd underlying their depression. We need healthy soldiers.

Sounds like you want: To leave the military by the way you worded your question. The diagnosis alone does not mean that you need limited duty or a physical evaluation board. It depends on the severity of symptoms. How you respond to treatment. If it effects function. Many individuals with well controlled depression are deployed into combat zones. On the other hand, severe psychotic depression may end up with a board.>.
