Epstein Barr Virus: Testing for epstein barr virus often includes 4 tests. Vca igm is the first to turn positive, followed by VCA igg, then early antigen igg, and ending with nuclear antigen igg. If the nuclear antigen antibody is positive the infection occurred at least 1 month before testing. The VCA igm typically is present for a few months after infection. The nuclear antigen igg remains positive forever.
