Strength...: The strength of your cough is difficult to control since coughing is a reflex. But, once the etiology of your cough is diagnosed by your doctor, your cough can be treated so that the cough will be less. If you smoke, your doctor can help you to quit which will decrease airway i flammation and decrease your cough.

Yes: I have known cases of muscle injury and even broken ribs with a severe cough such as pertussis. Also pneumothorax where the lung leaks thru a rupture. So yes.

Yes: Cough-induced rib fractures occur primarily in women with chronic cough. Middle ribs along lateral part of rib cage affected most commonly. Reduced bone density or osteoporosis is likely risk factor, but cough-induced rib fractures can occur in the presence of normal bone density.
