Dental caries: Progress at a rate dependent upon what one eats and how well one keeps their teeth clean. Each tooth has different contours and there are different thicknesses of tooth from the surface of the tooth to the nerve. No one can say how long it will take. I have seen teeth have small cavities for years and others go from nothing to a nerve exposure in 3-6 months.
