Dettol: Reminds me of my childhood summers in ireland! dettol is an admisture of a phenolic compound, chloroxylenol (4.8%) mixed w/pine oil, isopropanol, castor oil, soap ; water. Phenolic compounds have fungicidal and germicidal activity. It is great for cleaning surfaces and disinfecting skin surfaces (small area for short period of time) but it would be too irritating and toxic for mucosal surfaces.
