Yes: Dental infections can spread to under the tongue causing ludwig's angina. Infection can spread to the back of the throat causing retropharyngeal abscess. Infection can spread down the neck to the mediastinum (area around the heart) and cause mediastinitis. These infections can interfere with the ability to breathe and can cause overwhelming sepsis. These complications can be fatal.
