AIDS: This is variable and will depend upon the particular infection or malignancy that appears. These are generally illnesses we call "opportunistic" because the deficiency in resistance created by HIV or other causes allows organisms that will not generally infect normal individuals to take hold and produce disease, when they get the opportunity.
