adrenal source: Dhea sulfate is primarily made in the adrenal glands. A significantly elevated level could indicate a problem of excess hormone secretion by the adrenal glands. It should be evaluated by an endocrinologist.

High DHEA: DHEA is a mild androgen, produced by the adrenal glands. It is unusual to have a high level of DHEA unless you are supplementing with DHEA.
The good news is that there is no negative feedback mechanism for DHEA, which means that taking it does not affect your own production of it.
It shouldn't cause a problem. Just decrease or stop your supplementation.

PCOS?: An elevated level of dheas may indicate an adrenocortical tumor, adrenal cancer, or adrenal hyperplasia. An increased level of dheas is not diagnostic of a specific condition; it usually indicates the need for further testing to pinpoint the cause of the hormone imbalance. Polycystic ovarian syndrome:dheas may be elevated but may also be normal as this disorder is usually related to ovariaandrogen.
