Infection: Cobblestone appearance of the throat describes enlarged lymphoid tissue (lumpy/bumpy) that occurs in response to an infection of the throat or sinuses with post nasal drip. The infection fighting cells of our immune system reside within the lymphoid tissue similar to tonsils and adenoids.
