treats not cures: There are several formulations of preparation h - some products have phenylephrine, a drug that constricts blood vessels, as active ingredient, in a 0.25% concentration, others have hydrocortisone, in a 1% concentration, which reduces inflammation and swelling. None cure hemorrhoids, but does decrease the acute discomfort and swelling.
