A member asked:

7 yr old female, tsh was 0.025 (range (0.60-5.35) t4 free was also low, the labs read " less than 0.003" ( range 0.90-?) what could this indicate?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pituitary problems: A low TSH with a low T4 suggests the pituitary is not functioning properly. Usually a low T4 will trigger the pituitary to release TSH which in turn stimulates the thyroid to increase its activity. A scan to look at the pituitary may be helpful. Get professional help asap.
