Very unusual: Adults have much bigger airways, so even with a bad infection with the viruses that cause croup in children, it is very unusual to get stridor and croup sounds as an adult. But not impossible. If an adult has some type of airway abnormality, has any type of tracheal stenosis (congenital or acquired), then could still develop classic symptoms of croup.

Yes: Adults can become infected with same virus that caused their child’s croup. However, adults and older children have larger airways, and illness is usually mild and can seem more like a cold.
