Difference between l5/s1 rhitozomy and nerve block?

Length of relief: Nerve blocks use local anesthetic to "numb" the nerve so it does not transmit pain messages to the brain. Rhizotomy uses heat (or cold or a chemical) to inactivate the nerve. Blocks last hours, rhizotomy lasts months.
