HIVD: Sounds like you have a free fragment of herniated disk. The good news is that fragments can be absorbed over time. The bad news is that pain and weakness can necessitate surgery. Time will tell but if symptoms resist more then a couple months consider surgery.

Conservative : Approach may work, but key question is whether the fragment may lodge in area which could pinch nerve root. Surgery may be necessary if progressive pain, weakness, muscle atrophy, bladder problems, etc. Non-surgical techniques may stabilize, but could take several months for successful outcome.
