Recovery Time: I usually tell patients they could return to work after 5-7 days (breast reduction) and 2-3 weeks (tummy tuck). I recommend patients not return to unrestricted activities until six weeks have passed.

It's Personal!: These two operations have variable recovery rates depending on many personal factors. Your age, your general physical condition, and whether the procedures are done separately or together.Usually, the tummy tuck, because of the muscle repair, will be more uncomfortable. You will have to restrict lifting for six weeks. Routine activities are resumed 5-7 days and most are back to work in 7-10 days.

Recovery times?: In general recovery from cosmetic abdominoplasty and breast reduction will take at least 4-6 weeks. Ask your plastic surgeon for specific advice as divarication recti repair or hernia repair may be harder to recover from for some patients. Initial or time is also a consideration if carrying out a full reduction and a full abdominoplasty as the risk of dvt/pe increases with longer procedures.

Recovery after....: Patients have drains in place 5 to 10 days. They must avoid heavy lifting for a month. Most take pain medication for a week or so. Highly motivated patient return to work in two weeks as long as there is no heavy lifting.

TT Recovery: Abdominoplasty involves a recovery period of 10 to 14 days longer than most plastic surgical procedures. Initial discomfort and decreased mobility is typical.

4 to 6 weeks: You will likely require three weeks off from work and should not expect to resume normal activities for up to six weeks. However, everyone is unique, so be sure to discuss specific post-op instructions during your consultation appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon.
