I punched a wall a week ago. the doctor said i did not fracture my metacarpal. i'm still having a lot of pain and the extensor tendon curves sideways. what should i do?

X-ray: You may want to get an x-ray if you haven't already had one. If you punched the wall a week ago and are still having pain in spite of taking advil (ibuprofen) and oxycodone, then you certainly could have a fracture.

You need P T: Ask for physical therapy and rehabilitation of the hand.Also take tylenol (acetaminophen) arthritis for pain 3 times a day.

Hood injury: If the tendon rolls or curves off to one side with mp joint flexion and extension of finger is compromised you may have ruptured your sagittal band. This is the structure that stabilizes and centralizes the extensor tendon. You should follow up with a hand surgeon.
