More Blood Vessels: Scars are red because of the blood vessels under them. The greater the vascularity or the thinner the scar, the redder it will appear. Temporary redness can be caused by exercise or warmer temperatures. Lasers can be used to help reduce the blood vessels, and thus the redness.
