A member asked:

Passing blood clots during menstruation, could it be a ruptured ovarian cyst?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Separate events: A typical ovarian cyst ruptures mid-cycle resulting in a change in the endometrial lining to secretory in preparation for pregnancy. If you don't get pregnant, the hormones drop and the lining sheds. Menses occurs usually 2 weeks after the rupture.
