Typhoid fever: This is an infection caused most commonly by salmonella typhi. Present with fever, delirium, splenic enlargement, abdominal pain, and bacteremia (bacteria in blood). Some can have diarrhea. This is a systemic disease. Can last about 4 weeks and patient can be quite sick. If the diagnosis determined timely, with appropriate treatment, the illness can be shortened.
