Recently i experienced a bout of "shingles". i understand there is a shot that will help prevent getting shingles in the future. is it worthwhile?

Shingles shot: This is somewhat controversial. Your natural immunty is actually much better than the zostavax (actually prevents 70% of outbreaks of shingles at best) I have been telling my patients no but i would spread the word to friends and family over 50-60 years old to get immunized if they have not had the disease.

Yes, worthwhile: “Healthy adults 50 years and older should get two doses of Shingrix, separated by 2 to 6 months. You should get Shingrix even if in the past you: had shingles, received Zostavax, are not sure if you had chickenpox. There is no maximum age for getting Shingrix.” REF: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/shingles/public/shingrix/index.html
