A member asked:

In addition to keepin the airway open, putting the cpap for a year is going to train my brain to send signal to the diaph. to breathe in case of csa ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: A central apnea occurs when both airflow and ventilatory effort are absent. CPAP probably reduces the frequency of central apneas by preventing pharyngeal airway narrowing and occlusion during an episode of central apnea. I don't believe it has any bearing on the absence of diaphragmatic activation by the central nervous system.
