Back pain: Depends on the cause. If its muscle spasm then Robaxin or Zanaflex would help. If it is nerve pain then Gabapentin would help. Cymbalta (duloxetine) has a indication for both somatic and nerve pain. There is always ice rest and stretching. She your doctor for further evaluation.

Chronic back pain: You indicated that you had chronic lower back pain years ago. My question is...Was there any MRI lumbar spine done yet? There are many different pain medications. Perhaps you should consult with your local pain management specialist (not a pill mill clinic) to determine what would be an appropriated medication choice. Physical therapies are also strongly suggested.
