A member asked:

Will grandpa with alcoholic dementia eventually forget to drink, and solve his own drinking problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: Alcoholism is such a strong addiction that it sometimes overrides even the strongest of the biological instincts, i.e. Eating and sex. It is not likely that grandpa will simply forget that he likes to drink.
