Do magic mushrooms have any therapeutic effect on bipolar disorder ?

MUSHROOMS: No, no. Please do not try any thing like these remedies you may hear or read about-please seek help of a psychiatrist, or at the very least, your family doctor.

Not therapeutic one: Psilocybin (the active agent in magic mushrooms) causes hallucinations. Ongoing research with psilocybin involves use of controlled amounts in controlled situations, (not bipolar). Some report reduced anxiety, and heightened feelings of unity with others. This research differs greatly from encouraging people with bipolar disorder (which can also cause hallucinations) to experiment on their own.
